June is flying! I didn't expect things to get so busy so fast, but they certainly have! There are so many beautiful women expecting in later summer to early fall, and because of that, maternity and newborn sessions are popular this month! There are going to be some great images to be added to the facebook page over the next two months. Hopefully more will continue after that!
I just updated my shopping cart feature on the new website. It had some initial fixes that needed to happen, only because I didn't know how to set it up correctly :) Thanks for the patience to those of you that learned of the bugs!
If you want to check it out and see what products our studio offers, go to www.photohibbs.com/Shop. My Landscapes will be available for sale through that cart by mid July. Exciting stuff!
Also, I entered my Sydney at Night Panorama print into the Epson International Panoramic Photo contest and won a bronze award. Many of the judges were from Australia for that competition, and the only feedback they could give me as to how I could've done better was to have 'more exciting subject matter'. I had to laugh out loud at that compliment, because that's like having someone from Chicago judge the Sears Tower, or from New York judge the Empire state building, or even someone from Paris judge the Eiffel Tower. Of course it won't be exciting to them, they live there! So I am satisfied, to say the least.
I just returned from a very beautiful wedding! It took place in Kirtland, OH at a country club there, and although muggy and hot, it was absolutely perfect weather for a wedding. We were worried about rain storms arriving, since it was an outdoor wedding, but God held them back due to the prayers of many that were there!
The bridal party was the LARGEST I have ever worked with, at 9 bridesmaids, 9 groomsmen, 3 ushers, 2 flower girls, and a ring bearer for a grand total of 26. Yikes! Try squeezing all of them into a photo frame...
Everything was well thought out and the details had the perfect touch. From chocolate covered peanuts in little sealed glass jars (from the South Bend Chocolate Factory) as party favors, to the giant 3 foot tall sparklers used to create a farewell tunnel, this wedding was one to not miss. The couple was adorable (I am biased, it's my brother) and the cake actually tasted good (for the record, most wedding cakes look pretty but taste awful).
To top the evening off, the best man's speech was fantastic, the country club's staff were never snooty or condescending, and the DJ was a very well done service.
All in all, the pictures are fun and light hearted, and the people were great. Stay tuned to check them out, share them with friends, and laugh along with us.
Oh, and don't forget, if you like the work, hire the photographer (me!) Shameless plug.
