So we got stuck, a couple of days ago, with writer's block, except visually..if that makes any sense. We are developing the new web site look, but the ideas I had for the inside of the site were completely impossible for the last week and a half... After talking with my mom, (go Mom!) she had the brilliant idea to swing into Hobby Lobby in Prescott to find what I was looking for (not giving it away, folks! You'll have to wait and see!) ANd boy did we score! We found everything we needed....that has got to be my most favorite store on earth.
So, in the meantime, this whole biz development thing has been fun and challenging. There are a couple of exciting irons in the fire. Now, it goes without saying that irons in the fire does not mean anything is actually happening yet. But, that does mean there's a lot of opportunity.
For starters, the new website/blog/facebook design is coming. That's exciting. The new look provides new packages and prices, with everything most people have wanted over the last couple of years (like copyright releases and lower print costs!). It also comes with a new packaging and delivery concept, which as proven difficult to implement just yet (the minimum order quantity is 500+, at $3 per item...times three different items...yeah, that's a lot of up front cash for packaging)! So...working on that will continue to be a great challenge.
Second, I wrote into Groupon.com the other day for the Phoenix valley and all of northern arizona (if you haven't checked it out, check it out for the largest city near you, and tell them I referred you, it's worth it!) and unlike my inquiry in January, actually heard back from them, woot! They're interested in knowing what kind of deal I could throw together. If you pray, pray for this. It would be very exciting to be a part of!
Third, fiveships.com has launched, and being positioned alongside other top photographers in landscapes is a thrill, for sure.
Fourth I am working on connecting with a local country club that I admire to offer my landscapes to their private members in the staging of the homes they have for sale inside the club. This would be a great way to plug in locally and directly work with the people here in northern AZ for my landscape work. Pray for this, too!
Fifth, a local high end furniture store is interested in putting a print at a time for sale in their store. Exciting! Pray for this, too.
Sixth, last but not least, Jesse and I have come up with an exciting plan to travel the world, with the motto "we come to you". If this idea flies, (which, it could take a year or more to fly) we would be one the road sixth months of the year coming to your doorstep and vacation destination at no cost to you. Wouldn't that be great? Pray for this too. I know it's been quiet on this blog for awhile (getting sick puts you out), but great things are happening behind the scenes. Stay tuned, and subscribe to this blog for the latest! -Kel
